First gaining popularity in East Asia in the late 1990s, K-pop entered the Japanese music market towards the turn of the 21st century. In the late 2000s, it grew from a musical genre into a subculture among teenagers and young adults of East and Southeast Asia. Info on how to get the BRISWATCH data: Something has changed at BRISWATCH. BRIS is trying to Kill Whobet's website! Whobet, I need your help. When I use Chrome I get the aforementioned message that the site is unavailable. If I switch to Internet Explorer I get the same message but if I then refresh the page I get the correct BRIS document and can download the PP’s as before. I get the same results with Edge as I get with Chrome. If need be, I’ll use Internet Explorer and add the extra step of refreshing the page but I’d rather use Chrome. Any idea what might be causing this? I also noted that if I copied the BRIS address to another doc such as the body of an e-mail message, it worked fine with Chrome and Edge but only intermittently with IE.

At a “lecture” for students at Otterbein University in Ohio today, Mitt Romney told students that, his friend, Jimmy John, started a business by borrowing $20,000 from his parents at a low interest rate. Romney suggested anyone in the audience could do the same: This kind of devisiveness, this attack of success, is very different than what we’ve seen in our country’s history. We’ve always encouraged young people: Take a shot, go for it, take a risk, get the education, borrow money if you have to from your parents, start a business. The 401k Loan May Have Benefits, but it Isn’t Without Pitfalls Roughly 75% of 401(k) plans have a loan provision. This is good news for participants who find themselves in a bind and need quick access to some cash, but it also potentially puts a lot of retirement nest eggs at risk. In fact, about 30% of employees who have the ability to take a loan from their 401(k) plan have done so and currently have an outstanding loan balance. This number picked up a bit during the economic downturn as people found themselves in difficult situations and in need of a little extra money. In an ideal world we’d leave our retirement plans alone and rely on our emergency fund in a time of need. But let’s face it, life happens. As much as we try to plan ahead and put money aside for that very reason there are times when that just isn’t possible or those funds aren’t sufficient to cover a major crisis. So, having the ability to tap into your 401(k) a little early may be your saving grace. Unfortunately, it isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Taking a loan against your 401(k) may have devastating consequences if you’re not careful and the decision to borrow from your retirement nest egg should not be taken lightly. 401k Loan Basics While each plan may set their own specific loan features and restrictions there are a number of similarities. Even so, if you are considering a loan, be sure to check with your plan provider to see what the requirements are for you. Most plans have a minimum loan amount which is often $500 or $1,000. The good news is that this keeps people from taking small and frequent loans for things they can probably find the cash for elsewhere, but it also means you may need some time to repay the loan if it’s more than you actually need. Plans typically allow you to borrow up to 50% of your vested balance up to $50,000. Keep in mind that not all plans will allow you to borrow from the vested company match and it may restrict you to your personal vested balance. On the other hand, the available vested balance typically does include amounts rolled over into the 401(k) from an outside account. Personal loans have a maximum repayment term of five years, but most plans also allow home loans to be taken for the purchase of a new primary residence. Additional documentation may be required to prove the home purchase, but those loans generally have a 15-year term. In most cases your loan must be paid with equal installments taken directly from your paycheck over the life of the loan. Once the loan has been issued you usually can’t change the payment terms, although some plans do allow you to pay off the loan in full early. The interest rate is often set as the prime rate plus 1%. The loans use a fixed rate and will be set on the day the loan is issued. Loan origination fees may exist and you can expect to pay anywhere from $25 to $100 just to process the loan. Loans proceeds are not taxed at the time of the distribution, but would be taxed in the event of a default. The Advantages of a 401(k) Loan Don’t get me wrong, there are far worse things you can do in a time of need than borrow some money from your retirement account. Racking up credit card bills, getting your vehicle repossessed, home foreclosed upon, or resorting to payday loans are very bad alternatives. So, there are some situations in which a 401(k) loan has an advantage. I need to borrow $5000 with bad credit, can someone help me? I have been trying to get a loan to consolidate some payday loans I had to take out to move unexpectedly. I have very bad credit and have been through a bankruptcy that was discharged in Jul 06. Because of the move my bills have fallen behind. I am currently looking for a part time job to help pay off the bills but haven't found one yet. Is there a legitimate place I can borrow the funds to pay off the loans so I can get back on my feet. I have been scammed by people from Nigeria and United Kingdom before and do not want this to happen again. I have tried everywhere including prosper. Can anyone help me? 6 years ago Report Abuse Additional Details For everyone's information I have a full time job and am still looking for a part time job as well to help get out of this situation. I am raising a seven year old grand daughter on my own. 6 years ago I had a job interview for the second job and may be starting it the first week of April. I may not be able to get to work if they take my car. Please is there some legitimate lenders in the US who can lend me the money so I don't lose my car? What totally sucked was the fact that after college I had so much credit card debt that piled up and it was really affecting my credit score. I searched around and tried a few of those debt consolidation sites but found that nothing that I tried really worked. I found this kick *** site that helped me alleviate these problems and I want to share it with you. I helped me out so much and I hope it helps you as well. The TSP Loan program allows you to borrow money from your account while you are employed by the Federal Government or while you are a member of the uniformed services. Before taking out a TSP loan, you should carefully consider its potential effect on your retirement income. How a TSP Loan Works When you take a TSP loan, you borrow from your TSP account. The amount of your TSP loan cannot exceed the amount of your own contributions and earnings from those contributions. So, if you work under the Federal Employees' Retirement System (FERS), you cannot borrow from any agency contributions or earnings from those contributions. If you meet the loan eligibility rules and your loan request is approved, the loan amount is removed from your TSP account. You must repay your loan with interest. Repayments for the loan and interest are generally made through payroll deductions. Your repayments restore the amount of your loan, plus interest, to your account. MoneyMutual is a lending network, NOT a lender. Our service is completely free and all repayment terms are between you and the lender. Each lender has different loan terms, such as the loan amount, the APR for the loan, repayment schedules, etc. After submitting your information, if you are matched with a lender, MoneyMutual will redirect to the lender's web site where you will be able to review loan terms and conditions. In many cases, the lender will then contact you to confirm your personal information and finalize the loan. They may contact you via telephone, email, text messages, etc. Please make sure that you respond in a timely manner to ensure that funds are deposited as quickly as possible. Money Mutual Payday Loans & Cash Advance Lender Matching Service What is a cash advance and how does it work? A cash advance is a signature loan backed by a future source of income, usually your paycheck. That's why they are also known as "payday loans." A cash advance is designed to help you out through a temporary loss of cash or an unforeseen emergency. You can use the cash for car repair, food, credit card bills, other bills, rent, travel or whatever you need. Payday loans, short term loans, cash advance loans and installment loans are growing in popularity because they are easy to obtain and can be an excellent alternative to exorbitant late fees, reconnect fees and other penalties creditors can charge against your accounts. Questions About Cash Advance What do I need to qualify for a payday loan? Qualifications vary. Most lenders require you to have a job or steady source of income such as an annuity or Social Security check, to be at least 18 years of age and to have a bank account with direct deposit. Other conditions may apply. How much can I borrow? This also varies from lender to lender. Typically, cash advances range from $300 to $1,000. Most lenders make decisions based on the information that you provide, so honesty is the best policy when you fill out forms. This will most likely help ensure a quick and favorable result. How long does approval take? Most lenders will approve you shortly after you apply. But some variables may make the process to take a little longer. After approval, how long does it take to get my cash advance? If you agree to the lender's terms, money is usually wired to your account on the next available business day. Must I have direct deposit? Yes. Direct deposit means you can get your cash quickly and that the lender is able to receive your repayment. Why does Montel Williams endorse MoneyMutual? Celebrated talk show host and Daytime Emmy Award winner Montel Williams associates himself only with products that help people live better physically, spiritually, financially and emotionally. He understands that people will find themselves with difficult to pay expenses due to lack of funds or credit and agrees that a cash advance can provide the needed quick assistance and help avoid more costly fees. Index= 8 Title=buy stocks online [] Legend has it that Joseph Kennedy sold all the stock he owned the day before "Black Thursday," the start of the catastrophic 1929 stock market crash. Many investors suffered enormous losses in the crash, which became one of the hallmarks of the Great Depression. What made Kennedy sell? According to the story, he got a stock tip from a shoeshine boy. In the 1920s, the stock market was the realm of the rich and powerful. Kennedy thought that if a shoeshine boy could own stock, something must have gone terribly wrong. Now, plenty of "common" people own stock. Online trading has given anyone who has a computer, enough money to open an account and a reasonably good financial history the ability to invest in the market. You don't have to have a personal broker or a disposable fortune to do it, and most analysts agree that average people trading stock is no longer a sign of impending doom. The market has become more accessible, but that doesn't mean you should take online trading lightly. In this article, we'll look at the different types of online trading accounts, as well as how to choose an online brokerage, make trades and protect yourself from fraud. Before we look at the world of online trading, let's take a quick look at the basics of the stock market. If you've already read How Stocks and the Stock Market Work, you can go on to the next section. A share of stock is basically a tiny piece of a corporation. Shareholders -- people who buy stock -- are investing in the future of a company for as long as they own their shares. The price of a share varies according to economic conditions, the performance of the company and investors' attitudes. The first time a company offers its stock for public sale is called an initial public offering (IPO), also known as "going public." When a business makes a profit, it can share that money with its stockholders by issuing a dividend. A business can also save its profit or re-invest it by making improvements to the business or hiring new people. Stocks that issue frequent dividends are income stocks. Stocks in companies that re-invest their profits are growth stocks. Brokers buy and sell stocks through an exchange, charging a commission to do so. A broker is simply a person who is licensed to trade stocks through the exchange. A broker can be on the trading floor or can make trades by phone or electronically. An exchange is like a warehouse in which people buy and sell stocks. A person or computer must match each buy order to a sell order, and vice versa. Some exchanges work like auctions on an actual trading floor, and others match buyers to sellers electronically. Some examples of major stock exchanges are: •The New York Stock Exchange, which trades stocks auction-style on a trading floor •The NASDAQ, an electronic stock exchange •The Tokyo Stock Exchange, a Japanese stock exchange Worldwide Stock Exchanges has a list of major exchanges. Over-the-counter (OTC) stocks are not listed on a major exchange, and you can look up information on them at the OTC Bulletin Board or PinkSheets. When you buy and sell stocks online, you're using an online broker that largely takes the place of a human broker. You still use real money, but instead of talking to someone about investments, you decide which stocks to buy and sell, and you request your trades yourself. Some online brokerages offer advice from live brokers and broker-assisted trades as part of their service. If you need a broker to help you with your trades, you'll need to choose a firm that offers that service. We'll look at other qualities to look for in an online brokerage next. Choosing a Broker Before you can trade stocks online, you have to select an online broker. Your online broker will execute your trades and store your money and stock in an account. The online trading industry has seen lots of mergers and acquisitions, but there are still many firms to choose from. Different firms also offer different levels of help, account types and other services. Here are some things you should keep in mind as you look for a broker. •How much money you plan to invest. Most firms require investors to have a certain amount of money to open an account. This is different from a minimum account balance -- although most brokerages have those, too. •How frequently you plan to make trades. Are you going to buy one stock and hold on to it? If so, you'll need to make sure the brokerage doesn't charge a fee for account inactivity. On the other hand, if you're going to make lots of trades, you'll want a lower fee per trade. Regardless of how much you plan to use your account, you should evaluate how much using the site will cost you. •Your level of trading experience and how much guidance you need. Some of the least expensive brokerages don't offer much in the way of research or broker-assisted trades. Others, while still moderately priced, offer market analysis, articles on successful trading and help from licensed brokers. •Any other services you may want. A few trading sites let you buy and sell stocks but not much else. Others are more like major banks, offering debit cards, mortgage loans and opportunities for other investments like bonds and futures. Some sites, such as Keynote and Smartmoney, rate online brokerages based on success rates, customer service response time, trading tools and other factors. They can help you make a decision as you shop around for the best trading site for your needs, but keep in mind that there are no official standards for ranking or evaluating brokerages. As with any site that requires your personal and financial information, you should make sure your online broker has good security measures, including automatic logouts and transmission encryption. You should also make sure your brokerage is reputable. The Investing Online Resource Center has a good list of links you can use to make sure your firm is legitimate. Several national and governmental organizations educate investors and protect the integrity of the market. These are good sources for reliable information about making investments. They include: •The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), part of the United States federal government •The National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), a private-sector regulator •The North American Securities Administration Association (NASAA), an international investor protection organization, which also created the Investing Online Resource Center (IORC) Opening & Funding an Account When you open an account with a United States online brokerage, you'll answer questions about your investment and financial history. These questions determine your suitability for the account you are requesting -- the brokerage cannot legally allow you access to investments that you cannot reasonably handle. You will also have to provide your address, telephone number, social security number and other personal information. This helps the brokerage track and report your investments according to tax regulations and the PATRIOT Act. In addition to providing this information, you must make several choices when you create an account. With most brokerages, you can chose between individual and joint accounts, just like at a bank. You can also open custodial accounts for your children or retirement accounts, which are often tax-deferred. Unless you pay a penalty, you can usually retrieve earnings from a retirement account only when you retire. Next, you must choose between a cash account and a margin account. You can think of a cash account as a straightforward checking account. If you want to buy something using your checking account, you have to have enough money in the account to pay for it. Using a cash account, you have to have enough money to pay for the stock you want. A margin account, on the other hand, is more like a loan or a line of credit. In addition to the actual cash in the account, you can borrow money from the brokerage based on the equity of the stock you already own, using that stock as collateral. Then, you can buy additional stock. Your margin is the equity you build in your account. According to the Federal Reserve Board, you must have at least 50 percent of the price of the stock you wish to purchase in your account. In other words, if you want to purchase $5,000 worth of stock, the value of the cash and stock in your account must be at least $2,500. You can borrow the other $2,500 from the brokerage. Once you have made your purchase, you must keep enough equity in your account, also called your equity percentage, to cover at least 25 percent of the securities you have purchased. Here's how the brokerage determines this number: •The market value of your stock minus the amount of the loan you took to buy the stock is your equity amount. •Your equity amount divided by your total account value is your equity percentage. If your equity percentage falls below the minimum, the broker has the right to issue an equity call. Typically, the brokerage will try to contact you, but the firm has the right to sell any and all of your assets to raise your equity percentage to the minimum. The brokerage is not obligated to contact you. Margin accounts are definitely more complex than cash accounts, and buying on credit presents additional financial risks. If all of that sounds overwhelming, it's a good idea to stick with a cash account. If you'd like some more examples of how margin accounts work, check out the IORC's Investing Simulator Center.
